Session 6: Centering
6.6 Reflections on the Tree of Life Meditation During the Tree of Life meditation you were asked to reflect on how you are like all that exists.
Which of the answers to that question are also personal truths from your own True Self? Answer below:
*This part was difficult - I noticed feeling connected to all that is but not in words or characteristics were attached to that feeling. I think my true self is connected and recognizes that connection.
The meditation also asked you to describe how you are different from all that exists. Are any of these differences barriers to living in your True Self? How?
*The differences I noticed was thinking too much. This is definitely a barrier to my true self - as my true self can be in the moment and free.
The meditation asked you to think about how you can I be more at peace with all that exists. Did your answers to this question reflect any of your own personal core values?
*I could be more at peace when I let go of control and try to be more open to the moment. I have a hard time letting go around others, especially when people are in negative moods. I also frequently question myself, which also hinders letting go.
The meditation asked you to reflect on the teachings your senses give to you. Did one sense seem to predominate over all the others? Which one? What teachings did you learn from that particular sense?
*I noticed all of my sense being activated during this meditation. In particular - touch and hearing. When I felt the breeze on my skin (it was quite chilly outside about 18 degrees) and hearing all of the sounds of the forest, the teaching was how sensuous and radiant life is.
The meditation asked you to reflect on which teachings your dreams give to you. What do these teaching have in common with your own personal truths? What teachings from your dreams are different from your own personal truths?
* My dreams tend to be anxiety dreams about not being able to get to where I need or want to go. As well as people being sick and intoxicated, which bothers me. Also, many of dreams are more realistic and less surreal. I don’t usually have beautiful or fun dreams. I think this is different than my core self - but I have trouble making contact with it (unless outdoors).
The meditation asked you to reflect on how closely your dreams match your reality. Would you like your dreams to become more real? If so, why? If not, why not?
*My dreams are very close to my reality - so I would prefer them to be more surreal and fantastic.
Did you learn anything from your birth tree while doing this meditation? If so, describe what you learned below:
I learned that I have a hard time trusting and letting go of anxiety - even when being supported by the tree. This hinders my connection - which I would like to feel stronger. I learned that it will take much practice to remove the barriers, habits and neurology that has been built up in my body for many years.

Sorry for the late response...was out of town for the holidays. I've noticed in my own personal practice that when I have difficulty letting go, the more I practice grounding and centering the easier it becomes. Sounds like you already have some experience with centering and grounding. Looking forward to reading your responses to the next section!
